40mm FCR on 04' trx jetting questions

ok.. i just indstalled a 40mm fcr off an 05 crf... ive got a 42 pilot and a 170 main. i have yet to ride it but, i can tell the jetting is off. I'll let it warm up, then stab the throttle and it just like seems like its choking. too much fuel is what i think but im not sure. what are some of you guys running that have this mod? its about 20 degrees outside. let me know.. thanks

Don't forget that your altitude makes a big diffrence too. Someone may have the same set as you, but be below sea level. An if you jetted you bike to that it would run like crap..

yeah.. thanks for reminding me. im right at sea level i think? so.. something around there will work.

at sea level im at 185-190 on the main and 1 up on the pilot jet over the stock crf pilot jet.i got no air lid .hope this helps

Im having sorta the same problem.. I have almost the same set up and I'm at sea level also.. I just changed to a 185 main but havent touched the pilot yet, still at a 42.. Shes pretty good now.. Im gonna bump up the pilot a size, leak jets a 55 so thats good.. Def go up cuz a lean motor will choke and pop also. When there's a butt load of BLACK smoke blazin out the pipe when you stab the throttle... Then your to rich! Just my .02 :macho

Have one more smoke!!! You should start with 165 main, 42 pilot, with 2 turns out ... Your big problem is your leak jet you need the 55 leak jet ...

ive got an 05' crf 40mm carb on my 04' so.. my carb comes stock with a 55 leak jet. thanks though

ok.. i went out there to work on it, and i noticed a huge puddle of gas under my quad. something is leaking. is there anything in the hole on the left side of the carb right above the overflow tube? it just goes in there and there is just a hole.. it doesnt look like anything is made to go in there. i cant figure out where it is leaking. also i left the choke on so it made it leak even faster i think. help me out.. its on the bottom somewhere.
