my wolverine is backfiring through the carb. it does not do it while idleing only seems like in neutral if reved up and in first and second. it does it about every 30 seconds. i tuned the valves and double checked them and also double checked the timing.. i dont think its the piston rings cause it dont have a lack of power and is not smoking white or more than normal. it is also making a ticking noise coming from the top of the engine. i am so clueless on what it could be! can anybody PLEASE help me out

Did you clean out the carb? My friend wolverine does that when the main jet is plugged

i am about to friday if i get a chance....oh and also do you know anything about the tapping in the top of the engine..thanx alot man appreciate it

That sounds like the vavles are out of adjustment or the cam chain is loose

Air boot from the air box to the motor,start the motor take a can of say wd40 and spray it around the boot if the motor starts to die out thier ya go.Mine was doing what you say and it was the hard rubber part of the boot was cracked.
