Does anyone have an extra insurance policy for their ATV? My wife & I may purchase a used 400EX next spring and called our insurance agent regarding this. I mainly want our policy to cover theft, but he gave me a couple other options too. Here they are:

$67/year - bodily injury only (covers up to $2000 in medical bills) This wouldn't cover the ATV at all.

$151/year - Comprehensive with a $500 deductible. This covers medical as above along with theft and vandalism.

$253/year would cover medical, comprehensive, and include collision. Yep, incase I run into a tree, myself and the ATV would be covered lol...

What does everyone else have? What do most feel is necessary or going over board? Do these prices seem about right? We have our homeowners and 3 vehicles covered with them already.

BTW, our agent says the rates are based on cc's and dollar value of machine which I'd assume around $4000 for a used 05/06 400EX.

Sounds about right. I paid $149, no medical and 500 deductable. After first year I thought it was too much and canceled. Now I have none.:eek2:

I pay State Farm $259.00 a year. ($500 deductible)

If it is stolen or falls out the back of my truck its covered. I sleep alot better knowing its insured. Not to mention the huge Master lock on the gate, and that its chained to the deck.

I had my 400 stolen about eight months after I bought it. It was, and still is, uninsured. I got it back after about a month and a half when Detroit PD caught this guy riding it straight down Michigan Ave. just outside of downtown Detroit in the middle of the afternoon. (Not to change the subject.) When I got it back I checked into insurance, but most of the places I checked into would not give me what I owed on the bike at the time it was stolen, they would only give me an appraisal value. Basically, they wanted about $350 a year and I would still have to pay off the remaining balance of whatever they didn't give me. Just for giggles I asked about how much I would get if it were stolen again... $2500 - $2800. It was a year old...

If you total your quad they pay for what you have it insured for. Trust me one of my friends knows. Wasn't good.

Ouch that sucks!

I got insurance on mine through AllState. Brand new and still owe on it. It is in the upper $200s for everything coverage. Knowing my luck it would get nabbed if I didn't have coverage.

Yeah NJ sucks you pay out the nose for everything insurance especially. I got full coverage through Gieco on my 400 in September but it was $80 a month so I dropped it to liability only now its $30 a month.

I wish I had insurance when I had my trailer and two quads stolen! I lost about $11000 worth of stuff. Got replacements but insurance is a must have now!!!

Insurence is cheap, replacing a quad is not. I have Progressive and it only cost me 197 per year and completly covers my atvs.

I wonder if homeowners would cover the ATV? Homeowners covered my lawnmower, etc stolen earlier in the year.

Home owners doesn't cover atv's..... Unless its used to keep up your land or say on a farm. If you had a Utility that you used to "work" on your farm then yes.

I asked the insurance company when inquiring about insurance.

** Good example your mower was used to keep up your property**

That makes sense. Too bad though!
