What all work is involved in doing this? I know the obvious, but what are some things people wouldn't think about when doing this conv. This conv. has been done several times. So if anybody has detailed pics and some info it would help alot.

What is the best way to align the sprockets up. The atc's have a lil bracket that is attached to the swingarm pivot bolt for mounting. Will that be the same in the 300ex frame. And also the top of the jug has a mount. Is that nessecary?

The 300EX swingarm is solid around the pivot bolt. You will either need to get a swingarm that has the part for a pivot bolt mount or maybe modify your 300 swingarm. I would think you might be able to get away with cutting the existing one. The top jug mount isn't exactly neccesary. As I recall the "cool head" doesn't have that mount.

yeah you could just cut asection of the swinger out or geo with a 250r or 400ex axle..;) I usually put the chain on and line it up with my eye at first, then i tac it in,usually the motor is in line with the rear sprocket once its in the swingarm pivot location.
