I know this is old news to you guys but this is the first I have heard of it. I searched for it on here but all I found was that service honda has bad shipping. How do these bikes compare to the real 250r's? Are they worth 9K?

Thats a hard choise, then again might not be. It is a brand new bike but has a CR250R engine. 9 K, now thats hard to bite off.
You can find aftermarket framed Rs around 5-6000 in real good shape, some even completely rebuilt.
Price for these used Rs realy depend on the rider thats jumping camp how bad they want that new 4 poke ride.

really I have not seen one in person but just looking over the specs and everything I dont see how they could actually want that kind of money for a stock 400EX with a stock CR250 motor. I mean its not really rocket science to put that motor in a quad frame so its not exotic. And the only custom performance mod is a custom pipe, woohoo they probably could have used a R pipe and modded it a lil to fit and all. I mean a yfz or 450R is way less and is a race ready 4 poke, or you could buy a used race ready or stock R for half that or less. Unless that thing is plated in gold and does 200mph out of the box I dont see a need to drop 9k on a 400EX frame with an CR motor. But then again I look at some of the prices for these hybrid quads and im kinda blown away. So I guess theres someone out there willing to pay that much.

A friend of mine has one, and it flat out RIPS! Granted it is expensive, but if you got money...why not. He bought it because he already had a decked out 400ex with LT PEPs extended swinger and all kind of other goodies. When he smoked the 400ex motor he opted for the service honda R.
Him and another freind of mine with a piped, HRC 450r raced and the service R spanked the 450... he said it wasn't even close.

u know, with a dirtbike engine in a quad, u have to realize that there is more traction getting to the ground. a cr250r flies and with 2 fatter tires, there is more rubber pulling.
i thought something with a dirtbike engine would be slower in a quad chasiss, but i have a 426 bike and hybrid and i can't believe how hard and strong the same motor feels in a quad.

yea but i bet you could not get $4500 out of it. so for $9000 you could buy one hell of a nice R

You might be right.............as i fly past that stocker doing a wheelie and hitting 90mph. When you build a quad like mine, you're not going to sell it.

im sure lots of people have over that in theirs...

however, if you purchase one that has a lot of what you want already, you could pick it up for half, and still have 4500 to spend doing what you wanted to it... that would be one sweet bike...

Man, back in the day when it was just 250r's racing, I was racin my kx60 and had like 30 year old friends I knew racin 250r's, some would say they had like $15,000-25,000 in them, and thats like holy crap. I was bored the other day and my friends friend redid a 250r and has $10,000 invested in it after he bought it, so I'm like ok, say he got ALL of this done.

Motor work, +2 a arms, shox, tires, wheels(even included price of beadlocks all 4), swinger, plastics, skids, nerfs(which I think nerfs are gay, never goin on my 250r), bumper, grab bar. This was all in my head but I could only come up with like $7,000-$8,000 and then back in the day when parts for 250r's were everywhere they were spendin $20,000. I don't get it man.

I payed $4,000 for my 250r and I'm beating modded 450's in a drag on the road so equal traction, and I was beating them, Thats all I need, And mine has all the power I'm going to need for a while, most of the time, its like, you don't decide to pick the front end up, the quad decides when IT wants to pick it up.

Its pretty dang easy for the price to add up...

If you got a good stock Bike $3000
A good motor package $2000
Pipe & Silencer $350
Reed Cage $125
Carb $215
Filter Set Up $50
Handlebars $75
Bumper $75
Nerf Bars $225
Grab Bar $50
Various Skid Plates $150
Hinson Basket $200
Barnet Clutch $100
Other Clutch Components $200
Axle & Hubs $600
Brake Lines $100
Clutch lever kits $65
Long Travel Front end $1000
Front Shocks $2000
Rear Schock $1200
Swing Arm $800
Steering Stem $325
Sterring Dampner $150
Radiator $350
Wheels & tires $700

There is over $14K right there, and im not even finished... you can go into aftermarket frames, and all other kinds of fun stuff to spend your money on... it adds up real quick...

I hate nerfs too actually. But I ride sand and not worried about getting nerfed by other wheels. I bought the kick up pegs to keep my foot from slipping off on those 3 footers. :) AND now I can use my foot instead of a reverse gear.

No, I raced mx, and I jump bigger than 3 foot stuff, I think it makes them look ugly, yeh if someone gets their wheel caught in between yours, just take a chance.

My cousin asks everyone we ride with why we don't have them, cuz he said he needed them many times it "saved his butt, because it catches his feet every time his feet slip off the foot pegs" Its like, we know how to ride and our feet don't slip off.:huh

im with ya that some nerfs are ugly...

i wrecked about 3 different times where if i had had nerfs if woulda been fine... i figured i'd put them on- it'd be much better than braking an ankle...

i also like having them on there. if you have a girl on the back it gives her a place to put her feet. more places to rest your feet when youre chillin and resting...
