So I was pretty set on getting into racing quads, but D*** this stuff is expensive. Plus I have no local racing anymore since bremen/calhoun banned quads:mad: The closest local tracks have all banned quads, and the ones that are about 1:45 to 2 hours away dont let quads practice on sundays, which is usaually my only day off! That leaves me with Nats or SEquad races, which are 90% in alabama. Now with all the $$ spent on gas spent on driving, buying a quad, getting it semi race ready, paying entry fees...im flat broke!! I dont understand how some of these guys afford to make so many races, i guess rich parents....
(sorry venting)

anyways, who here has made the switch to bikes, i really love mx, but my closest tracks only allow bikes, plus a bike would be ALOT cheaper to get. Ive never really been into motorcycles, but it might get me more ride time. What you guys think? Should i stick to my 4 wheeling roots, and just enjoy a track visit every other weekend or so with a 7k+ quad, or maybe get a 3500 bike and spend less gas on driving.....

get the bike...i know a lot of people switch, and most regret going to the bikes, but they are real fun and a good challenge on getting used to. i always say its nice to try new things

Ive had the same exact thought running threw my head lately. Same situation around here, where EVERY track is bikes only so We have one local track that allows quads. And you only get so many o.p's? A bike is starting to sound real logical right about now.And like you say too , alot cheaper! So you get More places to ride, cheaper to maintain. I would, and I probably will soon:uhoh:

The same thing happened with the tracks around here but after a year or two almost everyone of the tracks in d-6 that banned quads has opened the door's back up to us because of the money they lost..

All I ask is if you DO go to the bike, don't adopt their arrogant hateful attitude toward quads.

You'll like bikes. I used to only ride bikes, then raced quads for 5 years and just bought a bike again last week. Feels good to be back on one. Now I can race every weekend instead of the select few tracks quads are alloud on.

im in the same boat as you...im switching over to a 250f cuz first i cant afford to make my bike the way i want it...if i could i would keep it second bikes are quicker and the suspensions a bit better...so in the long run bikes just seem like u get more for your money

I've always ridden both, but only raced bikes. Get a bike, and if you can afford it later on, pick up a used wheeler just for screwing around (I bought a 400EX). Like others have said, it's much cheaper overall on a bike. A friend of mine had never ridden bikes until last spring, but was quite fast on quads, and he picked up really fast and loves bikes. I ride a YZ250f, and he has a CRF250, and both bikes have their pros and cons. The Honda fits a smaller rider and has smoother power, while the Yam favors a little bigger riders and requires a little more aggression to ride. Hope some of that helps...
