hi, i am thinkin bout gettin rid of my 91 honda 250x and pickin up on a banshee, i want a **** of a lot more power than what i have and once i sell my bike i will have about 3200 total, i am lookin at a banshee cuz i've seen them haul ***** in the dunes and my friends say they handle good, and my dad has a warrior so it would be kind a funny with me bein able to eat my dad's bike alive in a race, have you guz heard anything about relliability on a banshee and how long you have to go between top end jobs or any mech problems, i would be lookin at a 92 or newer for less than 3,200, i wouldn't mind rebuilding a motor cuz i've taken a 4 stroke apart before and put it back together fine and it still starts first kick, so engine mainteninse is no problem for me, how bout somethin like this http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/6/6/32363666.htm
or http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/3/8/32623038.htm tell me what you guys think

i will probably get a bike like the 98 once i put my ride in the trader and sell it, i live in arizona, that's why i am kinda scetchy about buying one out of state like that, cuz for that cheap i wonder if that is all the bike is really worth or they just sell cheaper towards the east coast cuz of riding restrictions, there is a bike out here for sale i'm considering also, it's purple tho, check it out and tell me what ya think on this one http://adcache.cycletrader.com/5/8/6/29762286.htm

you guys said go for it on the 98 black banshee, but what about the blue one, would it be worth rebuilding the motor, cuz if it won't start i'm thinking it just needs a top end job, i can do that myself, it also has a pretty good list of mods, yes-no?, if a banshee won't start it's prob just cuz the top end is blown, right? help me out with this one

If you're thinking about buying something that doesn't run you need to make sure you can diagnose why it doesn't run and what the repair bill is going to be. Plus, if it doesn't run there is no way to check the tranny, shifting, and things like that. Beware of that one - there may be a lot of hidden problems.

BTW, it has to REALLY, REALLY need a top-end job to keep it from starting.

well i would check for hidden problems like the tranny and the way it shifts and i would ride it before i buy it but the bike is in a different state than were i live, i live in az. That means i would have to ship the bike out, would it be worth it or would it just be better to keep looking for a good deal in az, cuz bikes out here are really pricey

Personally, I would never buy something like a quad that I couldn't physically inspect. Plus, shipping is going to cost you and that might help make up for the higher cost of buying locally.

Good luck with whatever you get. You'll like the Banshee.

i dont know about a banshee, yeah there awsome in the dez but it is a two cycle so it will cost more to maintain. not to mention having to buy 2 of everything. that gets reall expensive. personally i would look for a ds. they are absolutley bullet proof and will have way more power than your 250x. just my opinion, but i think the viper red ds650 looks better than any banshee too.

i was getting interested in them too and did abunch of research

heard all good things about them
but they arnt so cheap to maintain.

what i never thaught about was the 2 cylinder.
so when you have to replace the top end, thats 2 top end

want a new expansion chamber and silencer? have to buy 2

if you have the cash, i say go for it

if your ride dunes or do lots of hill climbing then the banshee is the way to go, although it is far from the best handling with the cannondales and the honda r and 400ex.
