Has anybody ever tried bigger tires for XC racing. I mean a motorcycle tire is a lot bigger so it go over the smaller bumps easier without transfering it to the rider. I know that at Baja some guys were running 25's on DS 650's and I wonderd what like 23/7/10's in the front and 22/11/9's in the back would do for my 525. Has anybody ran a tire this tall on a sport quad. Both sizes are available in the Razr 2 so somebody is doing it on some machine.

22" on the Outlaw will hit the heel guards.

There are pics on another site of someone with 22's on his Outlaw and there is no room and at speed he says they hit his heel guards.

My stock tires rub sometimes, but I'm sure you could trim the gaurds to make room.

Yeah, I looked at the 500 Outlaw here at the shop and if the heel guard was taken off 22's will clear.... something to think about I guess.

Slipping on the pegs + no heel guards
=
massive pain and suffering.:eek2:

Not sure you are gaining that much on the Outlaw going to a 22" tire since it has great ground clearance already with the IRS. By going with the 22" instead of the 20" you are only gaining 1 extra inch of ground clearance.

Bikes like the 450R only have 4.2 inches of ground clearance so that extra inch means something but with the Outlaw having close to 11 inches I do not think it is worth the hassle and danger of removing the heel gaurds to gain 1 more inch of clearance.

There are a few guys running 23 inch fronts that I race with and they love them. I tried it and didn't like it- I thought it was too mooshy in the corners and I couldn't see much of an improvement over 22 in fronts in going over stuff. Just my opinion. I race harescrambles here in rocky Missouri, along with some GNCC
