Hey guys,
I have been having a tough time getting my 05' 450R to idle properly. I did some trouble shooting and found out that my throttle position sensor was bad. I unplugged it and it actually ran worse. I ordered a new one from Service Honda. I know on a car, the throttle position sensor is crucial to engine idling and performance but will a bad throttle position sensor make my quad run badly at idle as well.

as i explained in the other thread,... there are three programmed ignition curves in the factory CDI:

1. Closed Throttle Curve
2. Partial Throttle Curve
3. WOT Curve

all three ignition curves below 1000 rpm is within 2 degrees from factory. 2 degrees of ignition below 1000 rpm should not cause it to 'idle' rougher unless its so far off from idling that the 2 degrees of ignition causes it to stumble even worse....

IMO The problem is not in the ignition, or rather your TPS, but elsewhere...

To check the TPS, take a DMM and probe the leads to verify 0-5000 Ohms when you move the carbs throttle.

Good luck.
