It'll be way stiff, but you can.

what do I have to do to soften it up. Let me tell ya, I am very new to this. I havent done alot of racing before and not sure how to do this shock setup. My friend built a mx track from some fill dirt from a pond And i LOVE racing on it but my stock shocks are failing me. I am about 240#, big guy. Nothing serious, just a weekend HARDCORE rider that wants an edge over some smartass friends.

I wouldn't buy them in the first place. If you did, you'd need to re-valve and re spring them ($$$). So your better off buying new shocks.
How much do you want to spend on suspension?

No more than 800 bucks for all 3. I am just a weekend warrior. Mostly when we ride its rugged trails and MX. More MX than trails. But nothing too fancy. Ive been checking ebay for some deals but they get a little shady on some.

Revalve the rear and new works front triple rates w/ rezzys. Should be well within your price range and MUCH better than stock. I'd get some extended a-arms and axle, but that is pricey.

What quad do you have? You might even be able to rebuild your fronts.
