???pistons spacer plates????

isthere any advantage to running an 86 piston with a spacer plate in a 88 motor or would it be the same as running the 88 piston without the spacer.

The biggest advantage is, you get more bores out of the cylinder by being able to get larger piston sizes. The 87/88/89 model piston stops at 68.00mm & the 85/86 goes up to a 69.50mm.
If you want to go there, you can bore in a 70.00mm 86 model YZ250 piston, but it will need to be a cast piston.
