U can't chrome it. Technically, you can, but chrome and stainless don't really mix (to put it simply chrome doesn't want to stick to stainless). If you could find someone to do/try it, I would guess somewhere in the $150 range. Some places don't like messing w/ used pipes due to the carbon buildup on the inside (a ***** to clean out). Even if u did chrome it, it would turn almost immediately.

You could polish it, but it would also turn.

Your best bet is to leave it alone.

if you dont like the look of the stocker you can get some header wrap like drag racers use and wrap your pipe .this has a double benifit as it helps your engine cool a little better cause it prevents the header from heating the air as much before it gets to the cooling fins. plus you can buy special header wrap paint in a bunch of different colors. just another optionand it looks killer too.

you would probly have better luck doing ceramic if you were going to get it coated. The wrap would be cheaper but it will turn brown just the same.

high temp black spray paint, im guessing your header is starting to rust.

Does stainless steel get caked on with mud? Is it shiny?

I painted mine with high temp black almost two years and its still holding up fine and looks great. It hasnt even chipped off anywhere.

Cheapest fix....

wash it, take a wire wheel to it until it is free of every speck of dirt.

use some laquer thinner to wash it free of all oils, finger prints etc

go but a $8 can of bbq stove paint and paint it following thier directions.

let it cure for a few days, install it, then start the engine and let it bake on. a few cycles will ensure its good and cured.
