well my 400ex has a 416ex with stage one hot cams,dg nerf, tag bumper, razer mxs,k&n air filter, renthinal bars,. heck i proply missed some things but the 250r has, factory 400ex fronts sepension, factory 400ex handle bars,v frorce reeds, procuit pipe and silencer, different axle, not sure the bore i think its pretty close to stock, it has polshied cases. from what i know it seems to run good but the plastic is not that great on it. So i hope thats helps a little more, i would put pic but i dont have none of the 250 and dont have a good one of my 400!

The 250r should be in really good condition, and for mx you really almost have to go to the newer 450s to be even competitive. Unless your racing in a lower 426cc categorie or likewise.

well actully the 250r is pretty clean, and the oh 400ex need a lot of work a hole lot of work. and are u tellin me that a 250r would not be competive on a race track, thats the first time i have hurd that!

It depends on what you want. The 250r is a totally different bike than the ex. It is ridden differently and behaves in a completely different manner. It depends if you want to switch to the 2 stroke or the 4.

WELL I HAVE ROAD 4 STROKES ALL MY LIFE AND ETTING REALLY BOARD WITH IT, I WANT SOMTHIN TO GIVE ME MORE OF A CHALANGE WHEN I RIDE, IT NOT NO FUN ANY MORE. AND I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED THE 250RS

why dont u just ride them both and see what one u like best. a 250R has the best geometry for MX and it can still compeat with the 450's.

WELL I HAVE RODE A 250R WITH A 265 KIT AND IT WOULD RUN OFF AND LEAVE MY 400EX, THAT THING WAS FAST, AND I LOVE TO SEE THE GOOD OLD 2 STROKES STILL ON THE TRACK!

I didn't say the 250r's arn't a match for the 450s they are 2 different machines. Personally i would almost rather have a 2 stroke i just didn't have a good line plus I didn't want to have to premix and rebuild(not so much rebuilding but the premixing is a hassle).I personally would like to see a new 2 stroke racer atv come out but we all know thats not happening.

yeah i live the old 2 strokes, but its goin to be a hastle to do that but i dont care it all part of it, when i get the 250 it will proply set more then it will get road, the only reason i am getting it is to do some mx racing and really cant afforde a 450 right know

That is perfectly acceptable and a really good trade i would deffinitly take that one. It is a much better mx choice over the 400ex.

it all depends on your personel preference i have both a `00 400ex and a `86 250r both are mildly built. the r handles a little better and is a whole lot faster but the ex is much easier to control and its less maintenance. both are good reliable bikes that have thier own highs and lows either can be made very competitive. but the rs do have outdated supension if they still have stock shocks. hope this helps.
