might be a stupid question but I don't want to mess up my new twin row carrier...is there such a thing as overtightening my axle lock nut?

its pretty hard to do it if you have a regular axle wrench....

Remember this,,,,that carrier has a spacer tube on the inside between the two bearings & when you lock the axle nuts down tight it sandwichs everything together from the sprocket hub to the brake rotor hub.
That spacer tube is hardend but over time from all the ruff treatment will start to wear on the ends & cause clearance between the inner races of the bearings.
After awhile of use if you find end play in the axle, you will know what it is.
If you tighten the nuts up to remove the end play you could be causing the bearings to run off center of their race & wear out quicker than just from the ruff treatment.
Just so you will know whats going on inside that carrier.

I know on shee's and other yamahas you tighten the main nut to like 35ftlbs then the lock nut to like 90 or higher. With the lock nut your only pushing it up against the stationary axle nut so technically you cant over tighten it unless you really crank on it and strip the threads or break the axle nut.
