they both only have two stacons holding them one. Keep the temp light and mount it on the fender or something. If you have kick start you can ditch the key by wiring the two wired together.

follow the key down an unplug it. and then you have to connect 2 for the metal prongs together. theres only 4 so u only have to start it up 2 times and check and see if the light comes on wen u startt it.

Hahaha I just zip mine down under the hood, and zip tied my temp light to the steering stem. May not be the nicest but it did the trick

Whatever you do, keep the key. It has the wiring for the fan running through it. If you ditch the key and don't reconnect the fan wires, the fan will never come on. Two of my friends found out the hard way.

yeah but if you hook the wires together then the fan will still come on like normal.

A friend of mine mounted the temp light in a hole in the frame right by the steering stem, just had to drill it out some to fit.

lots of people do... look at the guys racing baja( it's hot there too) as well as alot of mx guys
as long as you aren't lugging around. and keeping some speed with good airflow across the engine you will be perfectly fine..
the crf doesn't have a fan as many many bikes don't.

also ditched the thermostat
