Yes an no, old projection style tv's (the massive ones) use this technology but nowadays things like DLP (Digital Light Projection) and HD-ILA, which is another form of rear projection, have replaced this and allow for longer bulb life and entirely better picture quality.

Are you wanting a LCD, Plasma, DLP?

:huh

"Old" projection TV's were CRT based. They did not have bulbs - they had CRT "guns". Not even close in technology.

Then I would not recommend a CRT based HDTV or a Plasma for that matter due to burn in issues.

For the size you are looking for, I would suggest a high quality LCD panel.

Your talking about a "projector" (front projection) - not a "projection" style TV (rear projection). Big difference!

This is the type of TV that prove "you get what you pay for" - down the road you'll understand. Also, why did you buy a 4:3 ratio TV? All HD broadcast's and video games are 16:9.

I just had this Sharp 37" LCD tv delivered from NewEgg. Sharp makes the best LCD tv's. The picture quality is unbelieveable!
Bought the exact same model in the 26" a few months ago and decided to go with this 37 for HD programming and gaming with the Wii and the 360, it's awesome!
