I realize this is a moto x quad but damn. Is there anything I can do to soften the ride on the trails? It is all stock.

ive got a gibson stick damner with my shock screws all the way up and all the settings on soft and its a very plush ride in the woods and i can still hit small size jumps and not bottom out. not sure what year you have but if its an 04 or 05 they have very hard seats. ive got an 05 seat on mine and i sat on an 06 at the dealer, its even softer. thatll be a future mod to save my rear some pain during the day.

If I want to soften my shocks all the way, do I just unscrew the lock rings at the top of the shocks? What about the reservoirs. How do I set those soft?

the resiviors have a screw on the side. left should be soft, to the right should be stiff. you may also want to slow down the rebound, a real fast rebound will make the ride seem stiff and ride like crap. you need to go slower on the rebound- to the left

yes i suggest a big hammer and a big flat head to break loose the lock ring, then you should be able to turn the spring to get the screw moving. dont go all the way completly up though because there is no stop on the threads and it will come right off. bradley300 explained the others well.;)

You didn't say how old your bike is but if it happens to be new the shocks will loosen up some over time. But you should still set them up as soft as you can.
