what are the major differences between these 2 motors? and what are you using form the crf to gain a lil snap. also, how much does it entail to convert the ignition system to crf? and wut all does it involve to convert to kick start?

Just like on the 04/05 motors, some guys are putting the CRF ignition/flywheel on the 06s. The stock ignition/flywheel isnt too bad really though, I've used the stock ignition system on my 06 and 07, making good power. Any of the CRF cams can be used in the 06 TRX as well, with the '02 CRF cam being the most popular it seems in my experience.

As far as converting to kick-start, you're looking at about $500 in parts to do the conversion. Another small problem you run into is there's no way to hook up a hot-start once you do the kicker conversion unless you put a CRF carb on it. You can get by with-out the hotstart though....

The biggest difference is the cam. I believe the HRC cam for the 06 is the CRF cam.

This was for the 04 TRX but it tells what's different:

"Surprisingly, the only interchangeable parts between the bike and quad are their cams and oil filters."
