Hey Pappy since you are the powder coating specialist, i have a ? about abrasive blasters. after looking at them on harborfreight.com i dont know exactly what i need to prep my parts for powder coat. What lb. blaster would i need to take existing pc off parts. The blasters range from 20lb. to 125lb. Which would work best for my needs? Thanks

trying to blast powdercoat is like crapping your pants. you can do it, but you will wonder why once you start:eek2:

powder coat turns gummy when blasted, thats why most parts to be recoated go through a burn off process prior to them being media blasted.

as far as blast pots, it depends on the size of parts you want to blast and the capacity of your compressor. 18+ cfm is minimum for a decent blasting pot for the average guy. a diesel compressor pushing 310 is what most use with a 300-600 pound blast pot for larger stripping jobs. Thats about $20,000

Parts that are not powdercoated can usually be prepped in almost any small blast cabinet.

If they are coated, you can opt for chemical stripping but it is nasty!
