when I installed my cam I left the decompressor clearance stock. Is that ok or should I change it. It doesnt really start all that good. When you crank it comes to a spot where it almost stops. Is this normal or do I need to adjust. And if I need to adjust I have no compression gauge so I need to know what clearance. If I can get this thing to start better Im goin w/ a 14:1.

On my '06 450ER w/ HC Stage2, we had to bump it up to .026 or .028.....one of the two, cant remember. Thats 26 thousandths or 28 thousandths.....

Thats how I got mine to start. Stock decompression setting will not work....

sounds to me your valves are out of ajustment. If your ex. valves is opening to late the air has know way out of motor. Which ex. valves would be to loose. It can cause the problem your having. I run 11.5 to 1 piston and stage2 hotcam and run stock setting on decompression vavle. It starts fine.Oh yea dont ever give it gas while trying to start it, it will do that, most of the time it will kickback. But you might want to check your valves.good luck man!
