head gasket

i know your not supposed to re use the head gaskets once you have ran it for awhile.... my question is does it do something to the gasket which makes it absolutley non re usuable? what about starting it for a couple minutes.... still not re usuable? i realize its probably now worth it considering their only a couple bux.

are you using the paper gasket or the metal gasket?

generally speaking you should be able to re-use the metal gasket, provided that the gasket is clean on the surfaces and there isnt any foreign material between the three layers.

to be safe i'd coat both sides with a sealant and make sure that the head and cylinder are also cleaned well.
