Well I just got a 3mm stroker crank in and I am going to put it on soon. I am trying to decide whether to get a 34 mm keihn or mikuni(the mikuni is $80 dollars cheaper and is pre-jetted). I am going to get a 240 big bore kit soon and port the piss out of it. I need sugestions on whether to get that stuf or not and which carb.

Oh and what do you guys use to adapt the carb to your airbox and do I have to get a new intake.

i think you will like the mikuni carb better, although the keihin is alot easier to adjust the needle jet. get a UPP intake for like 69 dollars, and either run an aluminum airbox, or just run a open K&N on the end of the carb. Throw the stock airbox away. I have a piece of flex-pipe on the end of my carb running to a round K&n under the seat to keep water out. the 3 mm stroker with a 240 would kick some ***!! Hell just a stroker and a ported stock jug will be no joke. I recommend a dynoport, Cpi or Ftz pipe, if you want serious topend power. Also v force 3 reeds are the best.

I noticed that you had a lightened flywheel. Is that the stocker that has been machined or is it an aftermarket and where did you get it and how much? Sorry for all the questions but I am interested in getting one.

Thanks for the reply. Where did you get your carb and how much? Also what makes you think that I will like the mikuni better than the keihn

go to www.everything2stroke.com and talk to a guy named eviltwin. he done my porting and flywheel and head. He is a great guy with good prices. My flywheel is a cut stock one. It sure makes a motor rev quick. also you will want to advance your timing 4 or 5 degrees. i just slotted my stock stator plate, and adjusted my timing. I've tried everything to get my Keihin carb to rev right off idle. it has a stumble that will only go away if i jet it so rich that it wants foul plugs. It drives me crazy. and it doesn't start well when the motor is cold. the mikuni tm carbs seem to be more forgiving on jetting. just my opinion. If you are going to buy a Keihin carb get the 33 or 35pwk carb, Not the 34pj which is what i have. they are alot better.

Ok thanks about the info do you know where I can get a mikuni that is pre jetted

headache
12-07-2006, 07:51 PM
no, but no pre-jetted carb is gonna be right on the money. every motor is different, so your gonna have to play with the jetting no matter what....

Ok thanks I think that I am either going to get the mikuni or a 35 mm keihn pwk that comes with jets

I know that the jetting won't be spot on but I wanted to get something that was in ballpark range

do you guys think that 20" 6ply klaws will bog down my motor too much with 14/40 gearing?

zack221
02-04-2007, 07:15 PM
no 20" tires wouldnt bog it i think should have bought 20's instead of those 22's in the first place.

blasterfreak99
02-04-2007, 07:29 PM
well i don't want to get them and have no bottom end because i am gearing it for more top end. right now does it have 2ply or 4ply holeshots on it?

zack221
02-04-2007, 07:40 PM
i believe those on it are 4ply when i put those 22's on it i didnt lose any bottomend i couldnt tell it so it would be about the same as adding a tooth on the front sprocket and putting 20's on it

blasterfreak99
02-04-2007, 07:41 PM
kool. i will have the big bore/stroker motor on it then
