Well its looking like we are getting a truck soon. We are looking for something under 10g that will pull a 8x24ft trailer, with quads in it! Preferably a V8. Would like to have under 60k miles on it. Heres a link of all the trucks in mind, there the closest around here. Thanks
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?num_records=&search_type=used&distance=50&address=22407&style_flag=2&body_style=TRUCKS&make=&start_year=1998&end_year=2000&min_price=0&max_price=10000&transmission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywordsfyc=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=32&certified=&advanced=&default_sort=priceDESC&keywordsrep=

if you see a truck that is nice, post up the link, also we are looking for an automatic.

jordan to pull a trailer like that your gonna need a 2500 or a 3500.

My F-150 struggles with our 3 horse horse trailer full loaded with three full size horses, its a 18ft'er aluminum sundowner, but its a nice one so its on the heavy side

but look for a good F250 or a chevy 2500 desiel with about 80,000 miles

yeah i was going to say, i dont think those rangers and 2wd trucks you have on your list are going to cut it. id say count out any 2wd truck for that matter. if your at the track and its a little muddy, youll be stuck for sure with a 2wd of that size. definatly opt for a fullsize with an 8 in it and 4wd.

Either a used powerstroke / cummins

i doubt you find anything useful for under 10g. 3yr old f-150's are 20g. good luck

ya just realized that im sure that is more then 10g, lol. It dosent have a price, so im sure it is expensive. I will call them though and ask. Do you think this would do the job?

well now my dad says he wants a 4 door f250, 2500 truck. :p

bulkdriverlp

that one last posted i think is one of the goofy f-250's. im not sure but for a couple years about that era they made f-250's with 6lugs or something like that. they werent actually built like a 250. not sure what the difference was. your lookin at about 20-25 for a good truck to haul what? 6 quads? 3,000lb plus trailer wheight.

JRP
11-25-2006, 07:21 PM
no only 2 quads, but we are building sleeping areas in there too, thats the reason for the 24ft trailer.

That standard cab superduty is so sick if you want a 2 door!

JRP

ya i like that one too, but now my dad says he wants a 4door. so i guess thats what im lookin at now. I think he wants one under 20g

you def. want something with dual rear wheels on the back because if not that bioch will sway real bad....i know my buddys got a 97 chevy 3500 dually with a 7.4 vortec 454...and he pulls a trailer with a drag truck behind it all the time and does it with no problem and handles just fine...but i know even a 2500 with a 454 and single rear wheels will sway really bad even with a 16 ft trailer and the truck on back

4.0 liter ranger edge or larger 4x4 can pull larger trailers fine:p

If it's a duramax, sweet, if it's the 6.5, forget it. You'd be better off with a big block V-8 than a 6.5.

I pulled a 24 foot inclosed once, but only a mile and I thought my truck was gunna do a wheely:o

1900!! they dont make em like they used to! :p ...if you get a duramax be careful which year it is...some of the years have a design flaw in the transfer case...i forget exactly what happens but the oil ends up leaking out of the case and the case burns up without oil...people say the only reason they notice it is because theyre picky about their trucks and check underneath often. the problem isnt a recall though, so if the factory warranty is up, your on your own. its a pricey fix.

Bah, I dont like the american auto trader as much as the canadian one...

Anyway, for under 10k you can get an F-250 Reg. cab. 4x4 or something for about 10 with lower mileage, and it will pull good...

I don't know if 4x4 is a big deal to you, but whenever Im looking at trucks they gotta be 4x4, i had a 2x4 and in the winter & mud they are NOT fun.

The red one will do the job just fine

what about the white one?

AtvMxRider
11-30-2006, 05:27 PM
The white one is nice to. Just got to remember when it's time to buy tires there are 2 extra to buy;) . The dually would pull a 24 ft trailer just fine but it is alittle to much for what you need. If it were a 5th wheel then definetly the dually

JRP
11-30-2006, 05:45 PM
haha ya, my dad will prob say, well you know, maybe when you get real good, we will get a toy hauler, so lets just get the dually, lol.

Check the blue book values on the trucks. It might be your region, but those seem overpriced.
