OK, I want to change up the look on my 2001 400ex so I have some question on the plastics. Will any year 450r plastics fit on my 400ex without modding the brackets or stuff like that. (I like the way the plastics look in this pic.)? Does any set of plastics fit on my 400ex besides the plastics made for the 400ex? If not is there any company that make front plastics that look like the ones in this picture (I know its a 450r)?

u could use the new style 400ex plastics...the 450 plastics are not going to work unless u custom fit the gas tank....
250r plastics will work with minner mods hope this helps and good luck

What kind of mods would I have to do in order to get 250r plastics on it? And any year 400ex plastics will fit?

i know just because i was just looking at it.you can get yours to look like a 2007 400ex for about $450 off of ebay i think it was yamaha by troy that had the kit that may help you out a bit?

Don't buy the kit, that is only if you want to keep the headlight, axe the headlight and for $230 plus a $50 hood you are converted to the new style plastics. They bolt right up, no changes required.

I got a'05 400ex headlight on ebay for $30.00 shipped. It's almost $180.00 new. I got $250.00 into my swap. It looks a lot like 450 with the OMF scoops.

I think im just going to go with regular maier plastics and not the new 400ex look. Is there any other company that makes 400ex plastics where i can keep the stock headlights? cause I do a lot of riding in the day and at night.

Maier and OEM plastics are your only choices if u want to keep your head lights. If u didn't need the lights, then your options would include fullbore and laker.

IMO, i would go with the fullbore racing plastics, and get the trailtech headlights. that is a great looking combo and the headlights r better than the stockers
