they're the same quads. the only difference is the color plastics. there are many claimed stock speeds for every quad so its hard to give an exact answer.

the kfx has a bigger carb:rolleyes: its a 37mm and the z400's it a 36mm

The kfx must be an 05 or 06 then, and the Z is an 04 or 03 model. Because anything that was done the Z was done with the kfx. Even eith the bigger carb, it will be a barely marginal race. Depends on the riders weight, shifting revs, and who gets the hole shot.

i can answer this perfectly 4 u....i ride on a 100 acre farm n their r @ least 6 kfx 400's that come down n 2 z 400's.....my friends have a 06 KFX 400 and a 06 LTZ 400 and they raced bone stock many times and 4 some weird reason the ltz beats it every time....even when they switch riders.....in a magazine they said the ltz tweaked their cam in 2006.....but other then that they are the same....they do bout 68-70mph

Are you talking drag or top speed?

Suzuki did bump up the cam in 06 and Kawi left it the same as the 05. Break in of the engine has alot to do with how well an engine runs also.

like said before, the years are different! in 03 and 04 it stayed the same mechanical weise. in 05 and 06 they put on bigger carbs, better shocks and a newer style swinger(also found on the 04) overall it is the same quad minus color. on the kawasakis frame it even says MADE BY SUZUKI. if that isnt enough for you start tearing into the motor, im sure youll find similarities.;)

I clocked mine at 74 mph with a pipe and 20 inch tires. Throw some 22"s on there and it will be higher.

both quads were brand new and it was in a very long drag race....the kfx even left on him and somehow the suzuki got around....even when bikes were switched.....both bikes had 5.0 tire pressure that day i remember them checking it and asking wut 2 put the tire pressure at 4 holeshots

The kawi and the z were the same things. That is why kawi stoped making the kfx400 after suzuki and them split up. The kfx was copied off the z theirfore suzuki got to keep the z when they split. The only way a stock kawi or z would beat the other is the driver.

there are way too many variables when drag racing. brand of tires, weight of tires, which tires are balanced better, throttle lever adjustment makes a HUGE difference, bearings, tire pressures, brakes dragging, rotors not catching on the pads, and even every motor is different. some will simply be faster than others.

the KFX has a hood on it which makes it heavier and more air resistance, i've done tests in my wind chamber and the reduced aerodynamics of the KFX due to the hood is equivalent to approximately 2.7 HP. Also, the color green is heavier in general than the color yellow, causing the KFX again to lose about the equivalent of .8 HP. The word "Kawasaki" is also longer than the word "Suzuki" so that adds weight, equal to about .3 HP, for a total of 3.8 HP less on the KFX. In an 1/8 mile the Z wins by 3.4792 meters.

candy??? call it what u want.

The kawasaki has a yellow powerban and the suzuki has pink. so the suzuki will beat the kawi every time because we all know that the pink powerban is the best.
