What is the rpm limit that the stock cdi is set at. Also what do some of the aftermarket boxes go to (rpm).

The stock goes to about 8200 or 9300rpm's I can't remember though, but a aftermarket cdi goes a 1000 to 1100 over stock.

most prople swap in a XR250 rev box for the extra 800rpm's that it gives.

What are some of the downsides people have noticed by raising the rev on a stock engine? Maybe a better question, what are any down sides to raising the rev limit on a stock engine?

we actually gain throttle response with all of the rev boxes we have tried. there i no really need for an increased rev limit on a stock motor. if you put in a cam and a good pipe then i felt it was needed.
