is it ok to haul a 400ex standing up on its real tires/grab bar? Won't hurt the motor or anything?

ive heard it isn't a good thing, but honestly... I have no idea
i'd imagine it might flood the rings with oil? might seap out the top end possibly? not sure..

I've done it many times and never had an issue.

i know my buddy who owned mine prior to me used to tow his and our other buddies like that.. probably 3-4 times for 4-5 hours each way
so i doubt it really does any damage... i think running the atv while inverted like that (ie long wheelies) will eventually hurt it
who knows

I do not have a trailer yet for mine and my buddies so I fig'd I could stand the first one up against the cab, and put the second one up against it on all fours with the tailgate down on my ram.

yea riding wheelie for a long time hurts the 400ex.. since the pump is in the front of the engine..

The pump is towards the front but the oil pickup is in the very bottom, middle area (fore and aft) of the crankcase. The only way I can see that pickup not having a supply of oil would be under very unusual/extreme circmumstances--like haveing the bike idling in a near verticle position while low on oil.

I used to haul quads like that all the time. It won't hurt anything.

Just make sure to turn your gas off or you'll have an empty tank when you get there:blah:

we found out that if u roll the quad into the truck backwards and then stand it up u get better gas mileage. just a little thing we experienced :D

i've done it many times but i'd suggest letting your quad sit on all 4 wheels for a while before starting it just so the oil will circulate right

Thanks for the additional info guys. I really didn't think it would hurt it as long as you let it set for a minute before firing it up once you unload.
Thanks, I hate hauling trailers... (way lower speed limit) so now ill just double stack them in the truck

I was just messing around with the double stacking on the truck and it's def a pain in the ***** to get the second one in (6ft bed).
