last weekend i went ridin my new quad and the brakes quit working,,well i thought it was the master cylinder so i went and bought a new one..:huh i put it on and the brakes still didnt work:huh i bled them and it still didnt work so i guess i got to buy a new caliper now:grr nowim very pissed cause i bought a new master cylinder for no reason:grr does anybody know how much a new rear caliper cost???:confused:

did you know that the plunger from the rear brake pedal to the master cylinder is adjustable?

no but the thing that pushs the pads together doesnt even come back out when i pump the brakes..:confused:

could be that your seals are gone might want to check that firt its like 700 to do a rebuild might be worth a try before buying a new caliper

the plunger coming loose will cause that too.............look for something simple.

the little connecting rod that goes from the back of your brake pedal, to the master cylinder.

if its a NEW bike doesnt it have a warrente? (sp?) just take it to the dealer and ask em' to fix it up

looking at his signature...........he doesn't own any "new" bikes. I assume its a used bike he is talking about

no its a 250r..it can be the master cylinder cause its new so it must be the caliper...:confused:

what you are doing is "parts changing", not diagnosis and repair. It can be a number of things, but since you insist it is the caliper, go buy one.

ok, i had a prob with my rear caliper on my 300. it was leaking. but if u are going to buy a new one do a rebuild first. i went on the internet and found the caliper layout. Go to servicehonda.com and click on parts then click on hard parts and slecet ur model. Take apart ur caliper and see what new seals or anything else you need. write them down and take them to ur local honda dealer. They can get them for u a little cheaper. I payed about 30 bucks for all new seals in mine and then i put it back together and bled it a few times. JUST LIKE NEW. before u do anything i advise u to do this.:devil

yes you are very rigght my 400ex had a kut o ring and i replaced pads and all that junk all it ened up being was a little oring i got from the hardware shop for 15 cents!

with it being a 250 (which arnt that new) i would over haul the brakes anyways. if you cannot find anything wrong wit it i would try to replace the cheap stuff first (ex. brake lines o rings seals and simple stuff) then u can narrow it down

Calipers are VERY simple things.
Take it off, take out the pads, pull of the pistons and look. It'll prolly be something wrong with the piston if its a caliper problem.

if it is gettin no preasure, this could be caused by air in lines, a loose banjo bolt, no fluid, or blown o-rings, check this before u buy a caliper
