400ex push button starting problem

I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what could be wrong on my 400. The push to start button just stopped working, it sat in my garage for like a week and the button just wouldnt work, but if i jump the starter solonoid it will start perfect. i looked everywhere for a loose or broken wire and everything checked out ok. does anyone have any idea's? thanks alot guys

I would use a continuity tester and check to see if the button works properly.
