i tried to do a search on this but couldn't find anything usefull, but i'm sure somebody has asked the question before. anyway, i had a hard landing last night and i knocked the air intake boot off of my carb (stock 400ex) and i never really messed with it before (since i've only had the bike since monday). when i went to put it back on it fits like crap, too short, and i'm sure it will fall off again. it is as tight as i can get it but there has to be a better way to make sure its stuck on there - replace the clamp or what? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

which are you talking about, the intake that bolts to the head, or the rubber boot from the filter to the carb? the 99 400ex intake "the one that holds the carb on" had a flaw, honda changed them in 2000 even changed part #,

Heres what I did, Replace the stock clamp with a hose clamp. Youll find a the hose clamp at any autoparts/hardware stores.:D

I had this problem too....what I did is cut the hole(didn't make it bigger in diameter, just made it longer)where the rear of the airbox is held on by the bolt that is by the seat latch. Then I pushed the air box as far forward the new hole wouls let it go, works fine for me.
