when it is cold it will start but then pops and sounds like it is missing until it gets warmed up, also if i let out of the throttle it will idle for about 2 sec then die, what should i do to fix

have you put in a #42 pilot jet yet. If not put that in and that will make it somewhat better for cold start ups.

Before i rebuilt my EX it did that. Mine had 440 kit, 10:1 piston and then the head was flowed. When we pulled it down it had huge carbon build up, valves weren't seating properly and the sleeve had warped from heat.
I hope your engine isnt in that sort of shape, it is expensive to get it going well again.
Do you have alot of hours on your top end? Might just need a set of rings to freshen it up a bit.

I think this is fairly common. I installed a #42 pilot and bumped up my idle to take care of it. Works great now.

Mine does the same, not as bad. I choke it, warm it up easy with about 1/8 throttle, then choke off, and drive within first gear for a little. All slow and easy, which warms it up good. From my expreience warm it up good before you ride.

i found that a good quality spark plug can help tremendously. Also if you feel like investing in an icat thats what my friend did and his would start in a freezer. :p

The #42 jet helps ease the frustration of cold starting and idle issues when the motor is warming up. It does little else for the quad except when at idle and less than 1/8th throttle.
