I wonder was I supposed to use 3/2 rims with my +3 a-arms, the bike with 4/1 rims is only 48" wide. Anybody know for sure, stock frame, +3+1 lsr long travel a-arms, 89 250r spindles?

I've got a LSR frame, +3+1 DC-4s, and 3+2 wheels and I don't think it's much wider, if any, than 48 inches. I know I had DC-4s with 3+2s on my YFZ and was supposed to be right at 50 inches. It would bearly fit between the fender wells in my truck. In fact, it scrubbed both of them and had to be in perfectly straight to fit. And my 250R hybrid has a good bit of room in the same truck.

I have stock width frame with Burgard +3 (wide) +1 (forward).
Mine measures exactly 50" from outside of tires. My wheels are not offset from stock.

Do you have much camber?? I bet if you crank it in a la Gary Denton (does anyone even remember that guy? :D ) you will be at 50" on the bottom. At least that is how it on my +2 arms, my tires rub on both sides of the 50" thingy they make you go through

I remember gary denton, I had a video of him from 83 when he raced a atc250r. Names like, jimmy white, marty hart, mike coe, gary denton, Curtis sparks and more that I don't know off-hand bring back old memeries to some poeple. I am big into trikes, I know how to get in touch with Mike Coe. I remember hearing that in the 2000 legends atv race some of them, Curtis sparks, mike coe, marty hart, jimmy white brought there trikes with them hoping to race them. Jimmy white did race his Tecate 4, I think the other guys borrowed bikes from other people. I know a guy that has one of Gary Denton's pratice bikes, he had the top end and suspension re-did, the guy told him that he hasn't seen work like this in many years, The ohlins shocks had internals from some street bike in them. And the porting on the cylinder was something not seen in many years.

I must correct myself, they are 48" at the top of the tires, so maybe, they are 49" at the bottom. I don't have my camber set to alot, 5/8 gap to the top of the front tires. I was told that alot of camber makes it straight away happy, but doesn't turn very well, too little camber makes it unpredictable and twitchey. I was told 5/8 is the happy meduim.

It would be cool to see some of those secret Denton race parts. That guy dominated the nationals for 9 years! He must have had some pretty trick parts, I mean Hinson was his mechanic.

the hinson basket was designed after he kept breaking the stock baskets. I would like to see some of the protype and race trikes that team honda used, I seen some pics and they look pretty wild.

I know what you mean about crazy Denton parts, my bike below is supposedly a Denton pratice bike. Very unique port job/cylinder mods (it is shaved on the top and the bottom??) and it did come with Ohlins shocks....... After all these years I havent had to service them yet.

I have LSR +2+1 with 3+2 offset and I believe my total width at the bottom of the wheels is like only 47 inches. I've been wondering if they sent me +1 arms when I ordered them a couple years ago, but pappy told me that they looked like +2 when he PC'd them.
Maybe its a LSR thing? I know I see other guys with +2 arms and some look crazy wide vs mine. Maybe my shock springs need to be raised a bit so I can get more width when the quad is lowered a bit....

it also has to do with the sag in you shocks, the lower the quad sitts the greater the width will be

My 250r was at I think 47 or 48 inches wide in the front with Burgard +2 a arms, and 4-1 offset rims. I was measuring from the middle of the front tires.
