LTR 450 suggesting Min Fuel Octane of 95! does that mean I can go up to 98? would it make any difference? Problems?

In most cases you'll actually lose a little performance with more octane if you don't up the compression of the motor. You wouldn't hurt anything running it though.

18 people have already lost their legs from using too high of an octane. It creates a grenade effect in the motor and exhaust and 'Poof' motor and leg no mas, bye bye. :)

Yep, its true, I am in a wheel chair because I used Vp110, left leg gone, right leg gone from the knee down. From now on, I am using AM/PM mini mart 87 gas, that stuff rocks!;)

Oh man, don’t get your granny panties all bunched up, his question was answered in less than 24 hours, I was just there for comedic effect.

You do know that if you have nothing done to your engine that you are actually losing a small amount of power and probably running hotter, right?

Dude I know all about race fuels I work at a high performace machine shop and I even asked our VP dealer and he said 110 is just fine. I run it in my GSXR-1000 and ltr-450 and havent had any problems and do you think that dip crap 93 is really 93 dont think so! So I am a VP man!!!

Well dude, what do you think your VP dealer is going to tell you? No, don't run their fuel?

Again, now class pay attention, because you WILL see this material again. If you don't have any work done to your engine, i.e. high compression... Then running high-octane race fuel is of NO benefit. Higher octane fuel=higher flash point. A stock engine would not reach the higher temps and compression to reap the benefits of high octance fuel. And yes, a stock engine would have slightly less peformance on straight race fuel.

Now please feel free to correct me since you know all about race fuel. And please provide supporting discusson of evidence. ;)

Ok tell me if I am wrong but a 9.1 motor runs well on 93 but somthing like a 12.1 motor needs 110 or 112 and I beleve that the ltr-450 is around 12.1. Because I know if you have a 12.1 in a street car you are not going to run that 93 crap it will ping like hell. And I never said it gave it more power but I promise you 110 is alot better than 93 in them little motors!!!!

Stock it is around 12:1, but will run fine on 91 pump gas till you start adding new parts. Some peeps on the other LTR sites, like FUELATV are around 55 to 60 HP on 91 pump gas in their LTRs.

I’m new here and was going to leave this alone, but just wanted to throw my 2cents in. What your saying about fuel is correct but one thing you forgot is elevation plays a big part, some places need to run a higher octane fuel in order to run correctly. Believe it or not my quad would not run very well running the hills at the Glamis without a higher octane fuel. Just my 2cents.
