I was wondering if you could bore a conecting rod end 1mm for a bigger wrist pin. Let me know if anyone has tried this. Thank you!

why? you would have to bore the piston as well. you risk losing structural integrity in both, causing weak spots, risking breaking them under loads.

I'd have someone like falchion crank make you a custom rod.

I'd bet he's trying to use a piston off of an alternate quad for a larger bore option.

Well bwamos, you would win that bet. I'm just looking over all my options, but can't find anything big enough that has a 17mm pin(besides expensive customs). Would 1/2 a mm on any end hurt the durability (even on top)?

Couldn't really tell you. You could always have material added to it to reinforce it as well.

I don't think I'll do that anyway, but was curious about it. Thanks for the help.

if you can do it in V8 why not in a quad eng. going 1 mm bigger is only gonna be half a mm closer to the end of the rod. half a mm isnt very much.

if your putting a piston in that is so over sized that you need to mill your hole bigger then i would think you would want a stronger rod anyway. maybe the pin is oversized so you have to increase your rod too.

I like that 2 cents. Both parts make sense. I still am not sure what I'll do....

You could always do a 330 kit.I know i know you wanted to go big but nobody doesnt want to make a piston unless you buy a dozen of them.:(

Yeah I've thought of that 2...I can get 4 made by JE...better than the 24 by Wiseco.:eek2: I still have a place or two to check out...Thanks 2muchquad...about how many hrs do you think you have on the top end of your 385? I know I've asked you this before, but your must be a 86.5mm right?

If you wanted to go "big".. you could always take a 350x motor and bore+stroke it. ;)

Yeah I have definitely thought of that one....I'm too far into this one to turn back now though...:p With just a big bore I could turn it into a 452...my friend has one we will be building for him soon anyhow.

I belive mine has a 86mm piston.Im not sure how many hours i have on it,maybe less than 10 trail rides but a bunch of runs up and down the street "testing".:)
