Great forum you guys have here and thanks for all the great advice I have recieved.

I have just bought a new battery for my 400ex, I went riding for a few hours yesterday and when i came back to clean the bike I noticed that the battery sounded like it was fizzling or bubbling up inside? It sounded like a soda can just after you open it.

Any advice as to what this may be?

I had this problem on a old car once and it turned out to be a bad Voltage regulator so I replaced it and it was just fine.

Please advise,

Mike

Was the battery hot?

Start up your quad and check the voltage output at mid-throttle and idle.

What kind of battery did you use?

I was using a stock Yuasa battery!

check the voltage at the battery at mid throttle like wheelie said!

should be around 13.2 to 14.8 volts, not over or it will cook the battery

let us know what you find

I am kinda new with working on quads but would I need a voltage meter for measuring the output and if its below those readings you gave me -- what should I do next.

Thanks for all the advice,
Mike

wow man, you are new to this, that's alright, everyone has to start somewhere :-)

go down to your local sears/craftsman store and pick you up a digital voltmeter, usually around 100 bucks. yeah i know it's alot, but beliveve me, if your going to be in this stuff for long, you'll be glad you bought it

let us know what you find out
