Hey I'm redoing the top end in my 660. I want to go to a higher compression piston, what companies are out there that are of good quality.

JE and wiseco are two of the bigger companies out there, i have used both and havent had a problem with either

Go with a Wiseco 11:1... best bang for the buck out there. I'd avoid JE's like the plague. With the 660's they're somewhat known for letting go along the wristpin.

go with the wiseco high compression

you'll have to run race fuel , but you'll love the torque, especially you you add a jet kit and a complete ex. system

The Wiseco 11:1 does not require race fuel. In fact, I've heard of people getting away with running 89 octane with no problems. Cam selection will also play into that equation as well. An 11:! piston and a Stage 2 HotCam is a very popular combination that I have never heard an ill word about.

yeah, i've heard that before too. he might want do a compression test after he gets it built, they will tell them alot. alot of the guys around here are running the fuel half and half. if they run it stright, at 111 octane, the performance falls off, then they mix it it comes back with great results. running that 89 octane doesn't give you much room for error, especially if they are pulling it hard in the sand or doing alot of full throttle running. plus, any good race fuel is going to be a better quality of fuel then anything you get at the local gas station

I did wonder about pump fuel. I run pump fuel now, it is 92, I won't run anything less. thanks for the suggestions.

With a stock motor there is absoloutely no reason to run any more than 89 octane through it. With a Raptor especially, you want to run as low an octane as you can without getting any detonation. I've run nothing but 87 through mine and will continue to do so until I delve deeper into the engine.

the rappys clutch is on the edge, more power and you may eat clutches like a german shepard dog eating hotdogs

I run VP Fuel 101 Streetblaze, its unleaded and runs great. You can get away with pump but why not run the fuel you know it will run right on.

stick with 11:1 or less. 12:1 and higher are extremely hard on starter, one way bearings, and your batt. wisceo and je are good pistons.

i just posted about high comp and my prob lol. i havent ever had a prob running 11:1 with pump gas. i have even run 12.5:1 on a fairly cool day on 92 without any spark knock. though on a hot day it will. with the problem i have been having on high compression, i would recommend 11:1 since no one seems to be having any probs there and since its fine to run pump gas.
