450r cracked frame

My frame is cracked on the top rail weld above and behind the motor. has anyone else had this problem and the best way to fix it. I need it strong enough for racing mx

where would I go to do that or can I have a normal welder just weld us some pipe over it or something?

Locally is always best for the sake of shipping, but a tear down and gusset is probably in order if your going racing.

Burgard handled this problem in relatively simple fashion. By splitting a piece of chromoly (not necassary to be chromoloy) and clam shelling the area after the crack was fixed. This is one I did in the same manor.

Most gusset kits (most) address this are when the kit is welded in. It is the first area to usually crack on a 450r

thats a very common spot.

I broke mine there then got it gusstted (had over 10 cracks).

Then it cracked there again after being gussetted.

Hey there Moto 49, I'm district 18, and have ran a few up at Crossroads...I think I cracked it and bent my axle on the downhill triple there

yeah and the take off isn't square, it kinda rounds off on the left side so if you hit it there it kicks the right side MUCH highe...landed on my left rear wheel, bent the axle and cracked my frame :(
