I posted a topic a while ago about a ticking noise it is still making the noise after the valves were adjusted. It is now a pain in the butt to start and now it won't really run without the choke on. any ideas?? please help.

Do a compression check and check the cam for wear. Then get back on the forum.

Is the clicking/ticking noise louder than it was before you adjusted your valves?

Every 400ex I have ridden has some clicking noise comming from the valves. Some are worst that others but they all do it, it's normal. Adjusting the valves will help but you won't be able to get rid of it completely.

Make sure your auto decompression cable is adjusted to spec
If it is too tight it will click all the time.

just a thought check your timing chain tensioner!
