03-05 Raptor 660 or 04-06 YFZ for the dunes?
For open riding such as DUNE riding ONLY which would be a more suitable bike? I have seen it go both ways. I don't want this to be a thread of flamers. Just post your opinions; no bashing please! Raptor more reliable? Which would pull harder up the dunes? Which would win going up Comp Hill and by how much? And lets start out as if they were stock vs stock. Thanks everyone that dosent point me in the direction of an older thread!

i used to ride a raptor and really liked it, then rode a freinds 450 and bought one 2 months later and very good choice. lower center of gravity handles alot better and pulls alot harder on the hills. much more fun on the trails at the dunes as well. raptor is fine, but yfz is much more on the competitive level.

as many raptors as I've beat in a drag race, Im not very impressed with them. They are bigger & heavier looking, but dont seem as fast as my mildly modified 06 YFZ

I can help you out. I ride the dunes at Glamis every weekend and have ridden both quads at length. THe 660 has tons of torque, but is much to heavy, hard to turn, and top heavy. One of my weekly riding buddies rides a 660 and he has a hard time keeping up with the yfz's the rest of us ride. Bottom line is the yfz pulls harder, sits lower, turns better, and has better suspension. Besides that, for me the snap of the 450 engine makes it much more fun in the sand, that and it weighs fifty pounds less than the rappy. Go with a 450 for sure.

I guess it depends on how you ride, the YFZ is more aggresive, and the Raptor is more easy going!

i ride trails every weekend or so and ride dunes almost every three weeks, so i think the 450 would be better for me. But my dads 660 is pretty quick compared to others. BUT my bros 700r is like a frecin rocket ship! Pulls like a freight train up every hill. Will i be able to expect that from a yfz or not? Oh and i cant afford a 700r, but the 06 yfz's are just in my price range if not a little bit over. Please help, MORE OPINIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

y brother has a 700 raptor and i have no problem beating his 700 up any hill. get the yfz. and get this exhaust, about as strong as the woods pipe with alot of bottom end still, and very light with a ti canister.
