A couple of things, worst case senario, top end rebuild. another thing is using low octane gas, use premium as much as possible.
I you don't have the oil pump blocked off, it can get dirt clogged in there and cause incorrect mixture. Disable that as soon as you get a chance, always premix, it will save you money on rebuilds in the future. Since this is your first blaster you can just PM me if you need help, or want tips on how to get your blaster runnin alot better (and quicker:D ). I love blasters and should be able to help you with most of your problems.
Thanks, Ethan

A knocking sound is usually the upper rod bearing going. Don't ride it until you tear down and inspect or you can cause major damage.

i agree with everyone try tearing down the top end and see how it looks. If it looks good then try looking at the valves they might need replaced or just need ajusted

2-Strokes don't have valves, besides reed valves and those can't be adjusted.

I would suggest tearing into the engine before you ride anymore and make sure everything is up to spec. Blaster engines are VERY easy to disassemble and put back together in a short amount of time so no need to worry there. Just make sure to get a Clymer's manual and you should be fine.

Sounds like a bad case of Piston Slap:eek:

yeah, I was thinkin about it and I don't think it could be the mainbearings.... prolly just a top end. I'd get a professional to listen to it. piston slap is a common thing on blasters...hope it's just that cause it's only gonna caust you like 100$ for a complete top end... (you might wanna get new reeds too). you can prevent having to rebuild blasters all the time by always letting them warm up before you ride, the cooling fins should be hot enough that you don't wanna touch them. Then you can ride.

remember, being air cooled, the tolerances arent real tight any way and even a new one makes a fair amount of noise. ring gap should be no more than 18 thousanths

is it worth the rebuild at the moment?with snow coming?and it being rebuilt with a 200 national?
