Does anyone ever go to Dumont? If not i recommend taking the trip Dumont Rocks. Way better than Sand Mountain Utah.(my opinion)

No I have not been. Have you been to Pismo ? If so what do you like better ?

Pismo has nothing on Dumont. I'd compare dumont as a smaller Glamis. Pismo is fun because it's on a beach, which I think helps attract so many people, that's what got me out there. Quads in the summer dunes with a beach to cool off in. It is awfully small though

Stiffy,
There are already enough people going to Dumont, tell them to go somewhere else j/k. :blah

What part of Vegas do you live in? If you ever get bored & need somebody to go riding with, let me know.

Also, have you ever been to Amargosa? It is a little closer to Vegas (depending on what part of town you live in). hardly anyone goes there, and while the sand isn't as nice as Dumont, it is fun.

Dumont is the mecca,it's awesome!Whenever you arrive, you should first get out of the vehicle, and then kneel. After kneeling, raise arms and repeat-DUUUUUMMMMOOOONNNNTTTTTT! as you bow and kiss the ground. It's kinda like when those middle eastern people do their daily ritual.

The sand at Amargosa (Big Dune) is really nice and smooth. Dumont does no have anything better.

Here is a little blip on the Nevada Sand Dunes you might consider. They are seldom crowded. If you like cruising big (and steep) smooth dunes with nice bowls try Big Dune. It's less than 100 miles north of Vegas on Highway 95. If you like to be by yourself, Crescent Dunes is 15 miles North of Tonopah off Highway 95 on the Gabbs pole line road. It is secluded and smaller in area but has two good size steep dunes and one good bowl. Sand Mountain Nevada, 30 mile east of Fallon on Highway 50, is like Big Dune with big steep hills and bowls, but has one particular hill that has sand drags on it all day long on the bigger holidays. The hill is big, but not as big as Sand Mountain Utah. Winnemucca Dunes, 15 miles north of town on Highway 95, is big in area but no tall dunes. Nice sand trails over the foothills to the west and scattered jumping places for quads. A lot of duners from California stop over the night here on there way to St. Anthony in Idaho. Not as fun for buggies, but okay. Cheap motels, meal, rooms, and other assorted diversion in the near by town's casinos. Come on over and have fun (spend some bucks too!!!).

Yeah, I go to Dumont, and it's great. But it's a hairy place to ride. Not just because of other people, but because there is almost a white-out kind of condition that makes makes the dune terrain hard to read as you are riding. You could easily ride right of a 9 foot drop off and not know it until it's too late.

A lot of people get beefed out there. I watched a show, "Las Vegas E.R." and they broght in a guy, he rode off a 60 foot dune and landed at the bottom. He was paralyzed for life.

It would probably be the same as driving to Vegas you would go I-15 get off in Baker and then it is like thirty minutes from Baker. go to the website dumontsanddunes.org-they have a few pics. But it is a crummy website. Or do a search for Dumont.

Dumont will not dissapoint you. The dunes are steep and tall, said to be about 400 ft. It's not a super huge area, it's like 8,500 acres. But it's good place to put your machine to the power test. So is Sand Mountain at Little Sahara in Utah. Dumont has some nice rolling dunes that are formed close together that make a nice soft double.

I rode Dumont. The dunes are tall and steep. I'm an expert dune rider, but I was intimidated by the sharp razorbacks near the top of the main ridgeline. I didn't care much for Dumont, but if I lived in Vegas, I'd appreciate it more since it would be close to me and used to it. LS, Utah and ST Anthonys are a 100x bigger then Dumont. We all know how big Glamis is. I feel priviledged to live by sand period....

Yeah, Sandgod. Dumont's razorbacks are something to watch out for. I think overall Glamis is the most fun because of the dune's casual rolling shapes are fun to jump. If you live in Vegas, you might want to check out Coral Pink and Sand Hollow in Utah.

Sand Hollow is near Hurricane, Utah. And that's near St. George. Coral Pink is near Kanab (I think).

so out of all these dunes.. which would you say was the BIGGEST?? St. A's??Went there twice this year and I loved it!I plan on going at least once every year now, but any comparison to Dumont??Which has the best sand??

There are more bigger dunes at Saint Anthonys and Dumonts riding area doesn't hold a candle to Saint Anthonys. Dumont has big dunes thats for sure.. The biggest is Sand Mtn in Utah or Nevada. The Ultimate racing hill is Utah's Sand Mtn for pure hillshooting w/ huge bowls on the backside. LS, Utah is much more worth the trip unless Vegas fits your plans...There is no sand softer anywhere then Saint Anthonys.

I'm hitting St. Anthony Oct. 9th for 4 days. It's 500 miles from Grand Junction, but I'm going. Anyhow, the dunes are supposed to be about 5 miles wide and 35 miles long......hehehe......
