86-89 are the same i have one here that has been tested and works sell it for $45 shipped

86-89 are not the same. Honda made both a HB2 and HB9 (stamped in white on the side of the cdi), one has a higher rev limit and greater retard below 800 rpms.

But if it works and for $45 shipped thats a great deal.

I have a 86 cdi, still on my original 86 bike that works perfect (going to a dyna ign)...$50 shipped.
