emission system removal

i was wanting to know if anyone has herd of peolple removing there emission system off their yfz. Its that little black box with hoses coming out of it next to the coolant bottle in the back of the bike. Ive seen bikes without and i was wanting to know if it serves a purpose and what all needs to be done to do it.

actually i think it might be called the crankcase breather

correct.... its just a crank case breather box

all it does is route any gases or blowby that comes from the motor back into the airbox.Where its recycled back through the motor via the carb.Instead of just releasing it into the air.

I bet that air that is recycled is hot air. If you remove it you might get an increase in performance because its not sucking that hot air from the engine cases.
