I tried polishing my itp rims with some turtle wax metal polish and a dremel with cloth wheel...they just seem to cloud up insead of get shiny...wtf am I doing wrong? The cloth wheel instantly turns black when I try to polish, is that good?

got to take the clearcoat off with some light sanding paper my man. then hit it with the polish. Me personally i dont think its worth the good looks. U have to repolish it almost every time mud gets on there!

well I noticed on the bottle it says "chrome polish"...could this be why it's not working well? not sure if it would have that much effect on the outcome

you wipe it good enough?? It's cloudy until you wipe it super clean. Try a clean rag and rub a spot for like 15 secs and makesure you switch spots on the cloth so the old residue doesnt make it cloudy.

use mothers aluminium polsih, and good old terry cloth. Rub it in until everything turns black. Then remove with a clean terry cloth towel. It works great, thats what i use to polish mine. But you do have to really work it in.

I'll try the mothers/dremel combo tomorrow and see what happens...

hollywoods polish is the best to get... $16 per bottle though.

Im wouldn't lead you wrong...;) I think the problem was you were trying to use chrome polish, which is completely different than aluminium polish. When i come back from pismo beach, i have to do my rims because they have the salt stains, and oxidation on anything that is polished.
