PS3 vs. Xbox 360

I'd really like to get one of them for Christmas, and i'm not sure which to get. I really want Call of Duty 3, Project 8, and a few other titles that are out for both consoles. Please tell me (in terms an average person can understand) which would be better to get and why. Also, price is a consideration, I know the games cost the same ($60) but I think the PS3 is more expensive to start out with. I have both Xbox and PS2 so i'm familiar with gameplay on both systems.

PS3 is more money at $599, but is said to be nearly twice as fast, however if your not in front of bestbuy right now waiting in line, your probably not going to get one for a long time, that is unless you can afford to pay over $10,000 for one on ebay in a week or two.


There is a line in front of the walmart here right now, and the sign said at the most they were only getting 10 of them. They are only releasing something like 750,000 before christmas worldwide. Yeah have fun trying to find one.

360 is very nice none the less, but the ps3 is going to be faster and will have all of the same online community. How does it not have a chance? Chance against what? There are still a lot of great games for Sony. Has anyone else seen the preview for GT5? It looks insane!

Plust PS3 supports blu-ray dvd's. That alone is probably worth the price.

i have 360, and like it. i played ps3 and personally, i think it might be a bit better.. they usually come out with alot of cool games for ps systems.. it has bluetooth, 60gb hd instead of 13 (like 360) .. but i would go play both in the store, and see what one you like.

The PS3 may be faster but the price is way to high for me, also the console its self is huge I thought. The 360 seems to be the better console for the price and size of it compared to the PS3. Also the 360 been out longer so it has the stronghold for the moment.

The only reason the PS3 has a 60 gd hd is to run the 40 gig blue ray disk plus have acual storage still..

Get the 360. I read an article earlier this week where the game designers are stating that there is no difference in the processing ability between the two. They just compute the info in different ways, but the end result is the same. (Ps3 has faster processer, less RAM, 360 has more RAM slower processer).

That said, you will not really be able to appreciate the graphics unless you have an HD tv to play them on. I picked up Gears of War this week and on standard tv it looks pretty good. When I switch on the HD it is like a completely different game.

That being said, save the $200 and get the 360.

i have had the 360 since last christmas and i love it , its awsome and i have and hd tv in my room and the graphics are unreal . But i got one question , my friend has xbox live and he said i can use dial up for xbox live but i dont agree i think it only works with a high speed internent so whos right?

well if people are paying $10,000 for ps3 then there has to be something better about them.

no no nooo. i read the first post. your question about which to get. the ps3 is no where near twice as fast and isnt,was not suppost to be. in fact they are being said to be pretty much exactly the same. i will say however that the ps3 has blue ray, can play dvd; and it has digital audio hook up on the back, and hdmi. the price however is completely rediculous. i purchased a 360 when they first came out and it however got the ring of 3 lights so i traded it off.

if you wait till the first of the year, they are going to be putting a smaller cpu in the 360 which is suppost to run cooler, and use less energy. for the money i would go with the 360 if i where you. plus i highly doubt youll be able to get a ps3 without paying 10,000 for it. also on top of that; they games are pretty much going to be the same. as the consoles themselves are more powerfull and about the same now.

however like i said ^^, the ps3 does have blue ray though. but at 600 dollars, any of the three consoles (xbox 360, ps3, wii) would be crazy; now way i would pay it.
