Ok my boyfriend has a 450r and i can't keep up to him so i was wondering if you guys and girls could help me beat him and other bikes in races!

Try changing your gearing. A jet kit is nice also.

ok my dealer said that jetting my bike would make it work worse then not jetting it. But it feels like i need a 6th gear cuz i am always going to shift but i can't. so i need to fix that problem!

id say get a new dealer, theres no way that properly jetting it would make it work worse....what are you running now as far as jetting. When I took mine up there it was fine. I got lost and ended up taking the 1 for like 30 miles wide open, probably not the smartest but I got back. If you guys do alot of wide open riding Id go up some on the rear sprocket, itll save on the chain slider vs changing the front out.

ok well i may get my bike jetted by a pro dealership and not the polaris dealer. and the sprocket changing wont make me keep up to him so i need a much faster way that doesn't cost too much!

well heres the thing the 450s are quick cause theyre a lttle lighter, but seeing as you are a girl Id guess youre boyfriend probably out weight you by 50 lbs making it a wash. If hes dusting you Id say its you then. Now if your jetting is spot on and youre still topping out 5th gear than gearing would be the easiest way to get a couple more KPH out of it. There are alot of things that you can do to the motor to GET it there faster, depending on how much you want to spend.
1. send carb out to Nicholas Cycle for modding ($200)
2. add a higher compression piston, which would require race gas....anything over 12.5:1.
stock bore piston you can get anywhere from 12.5:1-13.4:1
(say $150-350)
2a. Add a big bore (500-1000)
3. cams (anywhere from 300-1000)
4. you said K&N...is it a drop in or a clamp on?
5. different pipe....you added a filter and pipe but Ill assume you never jetted to begin with, which would lead back to jetting. If your bikes stuttering at wide open it may not be the rev limiter but the jetting.
6. gearing, try playing with different combos. Its always gonna be a give/take relationship though. More bottom=less top and vice versa.

pretty much what katch said. i would go one tooth bigger in the front, get the nicholas carb mod along with his filter, and then if you still need more get a 12:5:1 standard bore wiesco piston and Hotcams if necessary.

im adding a 12:5:1 piston to my quad so i will post up my review on that.

they do...any reputable dealer will ship to canada. Not trying to bust your balls (for lack of a better term) but where is he beating you? Top end should be the same most high performance quads top out around the same MPH. He shouldnt be walking you by any means.

hell if selling your quad is an option I def wouldnt buy a new or used one in Canada...I know what you guys are paying for quads and its outrageous, go right over the border and buy one in maine for probably half what youd pay in NS. With that being said Id stick with the pred and mod it up some. Its a nice platform to begin with and the mods will only help it.

i would never sell my bike . . it's my baby and i would love to do alot of stuff to the pred so i well try somethings that you guys said and we well see what it is like in the summer!!!!

Ill be going there in spring for another wedding and hopefully be bringing my quad. I really wanna ride the old train tracks around the province, that would be sweet.

My neighbor has a new '06 or '07 (not sure which) and I beat him every time. Short run or long doesn't matter. Change the sprocket and get a pipe and jet it.
