how should you hit the water to hydroplane and how far will 50mph take you?

About 15ft if you are not setup right... lol.

1st: Make dang sure you have the right tires.

2nd: you need a quad with wheel spin. It's possible but VERY tough on a 300ex.

3rd: if done in the dunes.. dont try it with V paddles.. lol. Once you wobble it makes you jump side to side.. then splash!

4th: make sure the water is deep enough that WHEN (not if) you do flip the quad so you dont break your neck in 3ft of water and drown.

It's not as much about entry speed... it's about wheel spin. If you hit it at 35mph at a shallow incline and pull the weight off the front wheel sso they dont break the surface tension you can go clean across the lake if you can keep the wheel spin up. Banshees are the best at hydroplaning for this reason.

Best tire combo is a set of flat paddle skat traks in the rear and the wider styles of front sands or a smoothie.

I wouldn't try the lake, I don't know...maybe it's just cause the whole drowning with the quad thing?!! LOL I never got to extreme when it rains we get a "puddle" that is about twenty feet long and 6'' deep, it's great if you hit it rite.... (you kinda have to cause it's in the middle of our track..)

A deeper lake is much safer than a 6" deep puddle.

Think about it. Does it hurt more when you take a header off of a jetski into the water.. or off of an atv into the rocks???

yea on a banshee if maintain speed and wheel speed, are you saying if you keep your front wheels off the water and let your back tires do the work you sould be able to get a across a lake/ calm river or w.e???

You dont wheelie.. you're front weels hydroplane on the water, your rear wheels are your props/foward power.

The trick is to keep the front end hydroplaning, keeping the rear end behind you, and keeping the quad stable.

It's like skipping a rock across the lake.

I've seen banshees go a good 250ft across a lake to the other side. I can only get about 50ft on the 300ex before I go splash.. lol.

Not sure really. Think I'm usually in 4th. I don't do it very often. Only when I get a wild hair out at the dunes.. lol.

i hydroplane puddles that are like 10 ft long and about 6 in deep on my 250ex all the time. i hit the water in 5th gear and pull up on the front end and give a lil more gas right before i hit the puddle. i dont dare hit them in like 2nd or 3rd gear unless i wanna get drenched.
