I have an 86 250r. I just bought an 89 frame. I am still going to use the 86 swingarm and motor though. I'm just wanting to make sure everything will mount up. Im like 99% sure, cuz I know the swingarm's mount up a lil different on some models. But Im thinking as long as Im running an 86 motor and swingarm it'll be perfectly fine.
please lmk just a yes or no if it'll bolt right up!
thanx, brad
you can DO iT...but a lil mod IS needed ...it will work
just use a" tube" in place of the 86 bracket ..
PAPPY:) :) :) :) :) :)

you just need to cut the tabs off the 86 mounting braket, like 2r's said only you dont need to go find a tube that way.

So I'll just need to cut off some tabs? tube or no tube?
Quad 041 ..meant You can cut the tabs off the 86 OEM
tube which runs between the 86 swing arm ,which goes to motor mount...& use it to install the these PEICES(swing arm & motor)..on a 89 frame ...
get it ?..
OR ,..if ya do not want ruin that OEM peice.....
you can "fab up"
a new tube for in there,,....as I was sayin...
PS..,, what hapened to the 86 frame ?

Ok, I think I see now. Will I need anything else different? I dont care about the stock piece, If it looks bad I'll just get it PC'ed.

It showing here that the two swingam bolts (the big bolt) are different between the years. I already bought all the 86 bolt set-up. I just wana make sure I dont have to buy the 89 stuff now
I sold the 86 frame because it kinda needed powdercoat, then I wanted to get it re-inforced (plus shipping!).
So I decided it was cheaper to buy a mint 89 frame that has already been re-infoced.

I've been to that site thousands of times.
Im not a total newbie to R's, Just wasnt sure about the 89 bolting up. I see and understand everything now. Thanx 2-R's, what would you reccomend to use to shave the tabs off with?
i dont recomend ..destroying..any stock parts unless absolutely needed,.(you could try locating a TUBE to fit )
but IF ya must ..clamp in vise .....grind or ,....hacksaw & grind it the pcs off ,...to fit that ,... set up ...
let is know how it went ..

My 86 pro-peg nerfs arent gonna fit either, are they?
Is there anything I can get from AC to make my pro-pegs bolt up to an 89 frame? Or do I need to buy all new nerfs?
Nor will my grab bar, will it?

you can buy 88-89 pro peg mounts from ac for like $40.00
also you CAN use an 86 grab bar on an 88-89 you just need to drill 2 new holes in the grab bar.
my bike used to be an 86 now i have an arens 88-89 style frame, notice in the picture the grab is the 86 style i drilled ne holes for the forward bolt hole on the frame which are located closer to the rear on an 88 i have since cut and grinded down the grab bar so its not so long any more.

ok, I found my laeger swingarm, but it turns out to be a -1 86-87 style
So my question is, is the bolt different???
if I just buy a pipe at home depot and cut it to fit theseals is that al i need to do?
quad 041, if you had a 86 frame what year swingarm do you have?
what did you do to have it fit correctly?
I need to get the swingarm from my friend or look for another laeger swingarm....88-89 style...
I hope there arent any other differences..
quad 041 drop me a pm with your phone # if you did this, I have to make sure its ok, and that i wont run into trouble..

beerock check your PM box
I need to get the swingarm from my friend or look for another laeger swingarm....88-89 style...
if your talking about the differences between a 86-87 and a
88-89 swingarm is that the 88-89 swingarm is one inch shorter...
if that was what you were asking
