the 99-04 400ex is 15/38 gearing the 05-07 is 14/39. so does that mean the newer ones have more low less top? or does going up 1 on the rear make its top speed equal to the 15/38 an jus give it more low? thanxs hope thats understandable

this is much lower gearing on the 05-07........if the tranny is the same,but they could have changed the tranny gears.
i've rode a 04-ex and i thought that gearing was to low......the owner now has a 16 on front.......so if they left the tranny the same i think this bike will lose all its top-end with 14/39
