Serial Numbers?

I am trying to find out the year of a banshee that I may be buying shortly. The only serial number I can find is the one on the motor, which is 3GG 116466. Can anyone tell me what year motor that is, and/or how I can find out? Also, where is the serial number on the frame located? Thanks

going by the engine number you have a 97, as long as the engine was never swapped out then its a 97

the frame number on that is just forward of the left foot peg on the bottom frame rail. left is as if you were sittin on the qaud

the year of the quad is the 10th digit of the vin

B 1981 R 1994
C 1982 S 1995
D 1983 T 1996
E 1984 V 1997
F 1985 W 1998
G 1986 X 1999
H 1987 Y 2000
J 1988 1 2001
K 1989 2 2002
L 1990 3 2003

N 1992 5 2005

also a good check to see of the motor is of a different year is that teh last six digits will be the same (116466)
